Veteran Nollywood entertainer and film maker Lukman Oloyede prevalently known as Olaiya Igwehas uncovered why he quit producing motion pictures.
The last film Olaiya made before he decided to quit production of motion pictures was ‘Aditu Isokan’ which was pirated in 2008. He revealed that he spent over N52 million Naira in making the film. He expressed that he began production of the film in 2008 until he chose to release it in 2014.
He additionally unveiled that when he took the film to the United States for coding to keep away from theft of piracy, he was subsequently called from Nigeria that the film has been pirated already. He added that except if the public authority and his kindred makers unite to battle piracy, he may not release any film.
In his words;
“2008 was the last time I shot a movie, and I was working on it till I released it in 2014, the title was ‘Aditu isokan’, while the English movie was ‘Mystery of Unity’. I spent 52 million naira on it, my witnesses are Adebayo Salami and Jide Kosoko.”
“After releasing it, I had to take it to America for coding so it can’t be pirated. The next day I was called from Oshodi that it has been pirated.
“Ever since then, I decided that until the government and we ourselves are ready to fight piracy that it is when I will produce a movie.”
